Can I use a visiting Thai family extension for one day without a visa between employment contracts?

I'm currently on visa extension based on employment. My extension is expiring on 30th April. I'm not planning to extend my contract with current employer.

I'm planning to sign an employment contract with new employer on Monday, 2nd May (1st May is Sunday).

I'm married to a Thai and have also half Thai children. Can I use "visiting Thai family extension" to cover the 1 day which I would be in Thailand without visa? After my work permit with new employer is ready. Can I then switch back from "visiting Thai family" to extension based on employment?

EDIT: I would like to add one more detail. I'll be moving from Ayutthaya province to Nakhon Si Thammarat. Not sure if that can be a complication...

Thank you for your help.

Cancel in advance your current Extension of Stay, to give you more time to visit with your employer Immigration Office in your new location

I don't want to lose my "contract completion bonus". So I wouldn't want to cancel the contract in advance.

I do not talk about contracts, You have a stamp in your passport allowing you to stay as long as you work for the employer who provided documents to Immigration. That stamp has to be cancelled, dated with the last day of employement with that employer.

so even if I let my extension expire on 30th April, I would still have to go to the immigration in Ayutthaya (my current workplace)?

You have to cancel the Extension of Stay, you can not let it expire.

You have to visit the Ayatthaya Immigration somewhere between 15 and 30 April with a letter from your employer and the cancelation documents from your Work Permit to cancel the Extension of Stay dated 30 April.

The only one who can tell you is the Immigration Office.

Visit them with your new employer as he has to provide lots of documents to apply for the new Extension of Stay.
