Hi all never done this do hope someone can advise

My 1 year marriage visa expires 2 march - I don’t want to do the 12 month route again this time as I will have to return uk

I would just need either a 30 or 60 day visa

Can that be done just prior to my 12 month marriage visa visa expiring

What papers would I need and can more importantly is this feasible

Appreciate any help on this

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on transitioning from a 1-year marriage visa before its expiration on March 2. They are looking for options for a shorter 30 or 60-day visa instead of renewing the yearly extension. Responses indicate that a 30-day extension isn't available; however, a 60-day visit family extension can be applied for just before the marriage visa expires. It's recommended to consult the local immigration office for specific requirements.

Can you do a border run and get an exception for a month and then extend for another month at immigration?

There is no 30 day extension available to you on that visa/extension.

You could apply for a 60 day 'visit thai family' extension just before your current yearly extension based on marriage expires

This is a general list of what is required to get the 60 day visit family extension it is NOT immigration office specific so you and your thai wife should go to your office before your current extension expires and get the sheet or list from them about what they require there

To be clear Todd

You can only get a 60 day once after the 1 year visa you have

I misread it I thought you were saying once you’ve had a 60 day visa after a 1 year marriage

You can NEVER have it again

But I think you are saying only 1 60 day each 1 year marriage visa

Is that correct

you'll need to ask your immigration office about whether they will issue a 60 day visit family extension or not particularly if you've already had one since your original non-o visa (not your current extension) was issued. Different offices have different rules.

Wow that’s crazy why o. Earth would they implement something like that

Does the same apply to the 30 day

@David ******
it is what it is, and Ellie wanted to point it out to you in case you'd already taken the 60 day visit thai family extension earlier on your visa process for the visa you're on as that would mean you can't use it again.

If you haven't taken it before on this visa/extension you're on now you're fine getting it

The 30 day extension for free stamp and tourist visa entries is also one time per entry.

@David ******
, make sure you haven't applied for this extension before with current and previous extensions starting Non-O initial visa.

???

Don’t understand what you are saying

@David ******
what she is saying is that 60 day visit thai family extension can only be applied for ONCE (per visa/extension/entry) so if you ever applied for it before they can deny you getting it

I forgot to mention that when I posted the answer and Ellie caught it (y)
