Hi, I originally entered Thailand on non O (Thai wife). I have worked for the same employer for a couple of years, but always processed my 12 month extension based on marriage. This year, for various reasons, I am not in a position to do this. Can I extend my future stay based on employment, given my original entry status, or do I need to reenter with a business visa. Thanks very much.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can switch their visa extension from a marriage-based extension to an employment-based one while remaining in Thailand. Responses indicate that switching from a marriage extension to an employment extension cannot typically be done from within the country, and reentry with a Non-B business visa may be necessary to apply for the employment extension.

I will add I have seen people switch from extensions based on employment to ones based on marriage inside the country with documentation from their company stating they can cancel their extension and get one based on marriage, BUT I have never seen one go the "other way" from marriage to employment inside the country.

Unless I'm wrong you can't change the reason for your extension from one based on marriage to one based on employment inside the country. :/

I believe you're going to need to go out of the country and get a 90 day Non-B then apply for a yearly extension based on employment after that.
