Can I use a multiple re-entry permit for my Non-O visa after getting an extension in Thailand?

I changed a 30 day entry to a Non O based on retirement on September 27. Like others there, I was given a blue slip and told to come back October 12 for the actual stamp (or as the paper states, "result." I was told I could then extend to 1 year from 3 months 45 days from the September 27 application. If I were to get a multiple re-entry permit when I get the 3 month Non O, would that still be valid once they give me an extension, or do I need to get another one (I plan to go out once before applying for the extension, but then several times after the extension)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user changed a 30-day entry to a Non-O visa based on retirement on September 27 and is awaiting a stamp on October 12. They inquired whether a multiple re-entry permit obtained after receiving the 3-month Non-O would remain valid after applying for an extension. Community responses clarified that the re-entry permit is valid only for the duration of the visa stamp, and it's advisable to wait until the year extension is granted before acquiring a multiple re-entry permit, as that will then be valid for the entire year.

The date of my Non-O based on retirement was not the date of application or date I picked it up. It was a date 10 days after the application. It was probably the date they processed or approved it. This was in Chiang Mai.

okay, let's take a breath and take a step back ๐Ÿ˜•

you haven't even gotten the Non-O visa and new 90 day entry stamp inked in yet.

How about you wait until you do that and see what the expiration date will be on it and then work the clock backward to see when 45 days or less is ?

As far as a re-entry permit, it works like this;

IF you buy one right after you get the Non-O visa and new 90 day stamp it's good ONLY for the time that stamp is good for (so 90 days)

You have to wait until you get the year extension inked in and THEN buy a re-entry permit <- that one will be valid for the whole year the extension is good for.

So if you're going to exit/re-enter the country during the 90 days that you'll get when you go back on the 12th get a single re-entry permit (1000baht)

and

after you get your year extension you can get a multiple re-entry permit (3800baht) which will be good the whole year

thanks, that's exactly what I was after. Just to note, the lady that handled my paperwork did both tell me and show me a chart saying that the 90 days would be dated from the day of application, not the day of pickup, and that I could apply to extend 45 days from September 27....then again, they could always find a reason to reject or not give the stamp come next week

I just think it's prudent to wait until you get the 90 day Non-O stamp and work backward from the expiration date of it.

Obviously you're using an immigration office that allows extensions when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp.

Good luck with it,
