Hello. Iβm a US citizen residing in Chiang Mai. I have a NON-O visa based on retirement. Itβs valid until 11 September 2020. I have to leave Chiang Mai next month for 1 year but plan on coming back then. Unless you have better advice, I plan on flying back before it expires and renew and then leave again.
My questions:
1) How many days before and after 11 September 2020 can I extend my visa and what paperwork do I need to prepare? I will keep the THB 800,000 in the back as my bank book will attest.
2) If I buy a multi-entry permit is it good for 365 days or only until I extend my NON-O visa?
Thank you π!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen in Chiang Mai with a NON-O visa based on retirement valid until 11 September 2020 seeks guidance on the extension process and multi-entry permit validity. Responses indicate that you can apply for an extension 45 days prior to the expiration and that a Multiple Re-Entry Permit is valid only until the current visa's permitted stay period.
