Do I need to buy a new re-entry permit after extending my extension of stay in Thailand?

To buy or not to buy?

My extension of stay based on retirement is ending on April 4th 2018 and I already extended it for another year (till April 4th, 2019).

last year I bought a multiply re-entry permit. If I leave Thailand BEFORE April 4th 2018 and come back after a month - is my previous re-entry permit, which is valid until April 4th 2018, still covers this trip? Or - should I buy a new one?

Thanks in advance !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether their existing multiple re-entry permit would still be valid if they left Thailand before their extension of stay expired. Community members clarified that re-entry permits are linked to the specific extensions under which they are issued. Consequently, since they obtained a new extension, they needed to purchase a new re-entry permit to avoid canceling their extension upon re-entering Thailand.

, mentioned a very important thing. Re-entry permits are tied to the extensions they're issued under. When you get a new extension early the re-entry permit on the old one is canceled and IF you leave come back without getting a new re-entry permit you cancel your extension and have to start over..

Does that mean that his one year extension is actually more than a year rather than it being a one year extension that kicks in when the previous one expires? This is not relevant to my personal visa status, just curious.

Afaik: The re-entry permit is based on the Extension of Stay. You got a NEW Extension so you must buy a new Re-entry permit.
