Hi I applied for the visa online in a country that allows non-residents to fill out the eVisa. Currently documents being checked. Can I leave this country and go somewhere else for a few days, or do I need to stay here until the visa is approved?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Thai eVisa online, it is generally advised to remain in the country where you applied until your visa is approved. Although one comment suggests you may be able to travel to nearby countries (excluding Thailand) while your application is under review, doing so could carry risks, such as potential rejection of your visa if you return to Thailand. It is recommended to verify with the relevant Thai consulate for the most accurate advice regarding your specific situation.

The thai consulate in Phnom Penh told someone once you apply online for the eVisa you CAN leave Cambodia

BUT

you CANNOT go to thailand,

you can travel to nearby countries ONLY

evidently now they have a way to check entry to thailand online when processing visas

In theory you should stay there. If you go to a third country (not Thailand) they wouldn't now.... maybe

But if you go to Thailand, they'll definitely will know and your application might get rejected.
