Looking for info on passport and visa expiry dates. My marriage visa (Thai husband) has to be renewed Oct 31st - my US passport expires Dec this year.

Recently someone warned me that I may not be able to renew my visa until I get a new passport. Is this true?

Answer summary

The user is seeking clarification on whether they can renew their Thai marriage visa while their US passport is set to expire shortly. Comments from the community highlight that a visa extension can only be granted until the passport's expiration date, suggesting that it may be necessary to renew the passport prior to attempting to renew the visa to avoid complications.

If you act now…right now….to renew your passport via mail to US Embassy, you’ll get your new passport in hand before your current extension expires.

Your new Extension can only be granted until the date your passport expires, not beyond.
