TLDR : Answer Summary
Finding a suitable long-term visa option for Thai spouses living in the UK has become increasingly complex. Currently, the one-year multiple-entry NON-O visa based on marriage is not available from UK embassies due to the switch to e-visa systems and stricter financial requirements. The only viable option without proving funds, suggested by the community, is the multiple-entry tourist visa. However, it's limited to 6 months and typically requires a higher entry fee. Alternatives like the 90-day Non-Immigrant O visa allow for an extension based on marriage but do require the acknowledgment of the marriage in Thailand. Many commenters emphasized the importance of proper financial proof to avoid complications and suggested considering agents for navigating the visa system.

why would I know it if I haven’t lived it thailand in 6 years? These weren’t the rules before. Could get a 1 year non O in uk before. Now you can’t FFS

I've been doing visa exempt for years now without any issues. I've had a few other visas in this time but mostly visa exempt. However, I am a bit worried about the new ETA requirement. So I might go to Savannakhet soon to get a non o multi entry
the latest report that I saw in the Thai Media about the ETA was in the past 2-3 days. According to the media report, the government reckons that it will be introduced in April 2025.
unless you have a criminal record or a 'history' of abusing the Visa Exempt entry system you have nothing to worry about at all. The bonus is, that when it's up and running, it will speed up the process of getting out of the airport upon arrival in Thailand.

Maybe I could just do visa exempts for the first year till I can figure out what I’m doing for work?
you can extent your visa excemtion by 30 days for tourist purpose and then again for 60 days for visit Thai wife purpose. That will give you many days. Then do a border hop and do the above again.
don't ever attempt do visa-exempt entries consecutively, becoz at some point you will get denied entry! Go get the 12-months extension of stay based on a marriage to a Thai wife, and buy a multiple re-entry permit for it for 3800.- THB
there is no pre-defined rule however is up to the immigration officer as you should get a proper long term visa for your stay instead of abusing visa exempt.

Do you really need it? 2 visa exempt entries gets you 6 months in the kingdom?

foreign women married to a Thai husband don't need money in a bank. Just apply for the 90-days Non-imm-O visa based on marriage with a Thai, enter Thailand and apply on Immigration for the 12-months extension of stay permit. Your marriage must however be acknowledged in Thailand, though, for this step
All visa will require proof U can support Ur self out here.
Once here U can pay certain agents who by pass it

I assume you are asking about the one year multiple-entry non-o visa based on marriage. This is not available from any embassy that has switched to the e-visa system, so you cannot get it in the UK. In fact there are only 2 known embassies in the world that still issue this visa and it's the Thai embassy/consulate in Savannakhet, Laos and the one in Yangon, Myanmar. But they both require proof of 400,000 in a Thai bank account now, as they no longer offer it without proof of funds since months ago.
Your only other option if you don't want to show money is the multiple-entry tourist visa. It's a bit expensive and it only lasts for 6 months, and will give you a 60-day entry stamp each time you enter Thailand. But there's not much use for this visa since the visa exempt was increased to 60 days.
the only two consulates that still issue the 1-year multi entry Non-Imm-O family visa, are YANGON (Myanmar) embassy and SAVANNAKHET (Laos) consulate. Be aware, the option is NOT mentioned on their websites. It is only when you show up and ask for it, you can still get it issued. But you need proof of 400.000.- THB in your thai bank account, you need that bank statement, your bankbook, and a fresh Thai marriage registry printout, and 5000.- THB fee
It's mentioned in fine print on the application form you download from Savannakhet consulate website. Although it does not mention the bank balance requirement.
they don't list the ME-Non-O on their website, but yes the option can be X-ed on their (old!) application form. The 400.000 THB bank requirement got into effect by November last year and is not mentioned. Savannakhet remains an insider-tipp at most
no, nothing changed. you need to visit, X on the form that you want to apply for the multi entry family visa. Prove your marriage, prove your 400.000 tHB in a thai bank account in your sole name. pay the 5000.- thb and on ya go
the 400.000.- THB requirement came into effect by October 2023. That printout doesn't mentioning it doesn't mean anything, it just means that they are dragging their feet in updating their stuff. If you show up in Savannakhet without the bank statement and bankbook, they won't issue a ME Non-Imm-O family visa
The original post had mentioned there was no information concerning one year multi-entry non-o visa. I was simply making reference to the visa fee section where there is reference made to this. The website is clear that an appointment is required and they provide a link to this page. The downloadable form is the form I used last year so possibly is still relevant. The information I had posted is the second page of the application form. The only item I do not see on their website is the bank balance requirement. Maybe it is there, I simply may not see it. Or maybe it is enforced case by case. They do reserve the rite to request any information they feel is required.
are you aware this explanation form is from 2003? We have the year 2024. You need an appointment to visit, you need to fill out the form which is required for the application to the multi entry Non-imm-O visa (TM47). You will need to prove your marriage with a freshly printed Kor Ror document from the Amphoe, you need to prove you got 400.000 THB in a Thai bank account in your sole name. And pay the 5000.- THB visa fee
