Good day,

Does anyone know where a South African can apply for a 1 year Non O multi entry visa based on marriage?

I travel for work every 8 weeks so I would prefer this to single entry and having to get a reentry visa every time.

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A South African looking to apply for a 1-year Non-O multi-entry visa based on marriage can do so at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos. They will need to provide specific documents, including the original rose bordered marriage certificate, copies of essential identification, and some passport photos along with the visa fee. This visa allows unlimited entries within the year, providing a 90-day stay upon each arrival, which is beneficial for frequent travelers.

and we are done. I am not gonna let this topic get all convoluted.

Get the year long multi-entry Non-O based on marriage in Savannakhet,

The visa is unlimited entry for the year it's valid. You will get stamped in for 90 days every time you enter the country for that year.

It's the visa you want.

Ahh, I see,

you know what? Given your travel plans as often as it is, I'd say disregard my "get a year extension" comment and go get the year long multi-entry Non-O visa from Savannakhet instead.

That visa is unlimited entry for the year it's good for, every entry gets you in for 90 days and it will be a better "fit" for you rather than screwing around with apply for the year extension, getting the under consideration 30 day stamp, waiting for the home visit, going back getting the extension and then buying a re-entry permit after that.

Sorry for the bad advice..

I think your first plan for the year long multi-entry Non-O from Savannakhet is the best one for you

my main concern was for South Africans as when I tried in Vietnam they said I couldn’t apply there . So off to Lao!

Hang about, I just looked at your name;

IF you are a foreign female married to a thai national you can get a year long extension of stay off a Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai without the need to show ANY proof of funds at the immigration office where you live..

Why don't you get a yearly extension of stay and a multiple re-entry permit from the immigration office ?? I mean it is a few more steps than getting the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa but it doesn't require border bouncing every 90 days either

yeah I think you may have misunderstood. That’s why I want a multi entry 1 year. So I don’t have to get a re entry visa every time and don’t have to do any reports.

WHY !? Why there is absolutely no information from the ministry about that difference foreigner men/women. Thank you for this supplementary information.

Thanks yeah I have everything else ready. I leave every 8 weeks usually anyways for work. So I thought this would be the best . As means I don’t need to check in anywhere, which I would still need to do every 90 days, right?

And here, before you ask :)

For a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai at the thai consulate in Savannakhet you need

-the original rose bordered marriage certificate

copies of:

-front&back of the rose bordered marriage certificate

-front&back of your thai spouse's i/d card

-thai spouse's house book listing

-data page of your passport

-lao visa & entry stamp

you also need 2 passport sized photos,a filled out application along with 5000baht.

Thai spouse signs the things with their name on them, you sign the things with yours <- meaning you BOTH sign the marriage certificate copies ;)

NOTE: if your thai wife changed her name (took your surname when she got married OR after that) you need the certificate stating she changed her name too

The thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao will accept S/A passport holders without any issues for that year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai
