last Monday I obtained my one-year marriage visa, renewable annually, after several months of work and, most importantly, without using an agency.
Instead, I persevered and handled everything myself, my Thai partner and I.
A huge THANK YOU to Tod Daniels and Brandon Thurkettle for the clear and precise answers they provide in this group. 🕺💃

TLDR : Answer Summary

The author thanks specific members of the community for their useful guidance throughout the process. Various comments share supportive insights, address challenges faced in the application process, and highlight the importance of meticulous preparation and understanding of visa requirements.
Adam Thom When I'm in my country, having practically no knowledge of the various visa requirements before marriage at that time, with all the demands at different levels—Canadian and Thai embassies, immigration, opening a bank account, districts, etc.—it's incredibly draining.
I'm not just talking about applying for an extension, but the entire process from scratch to where I am today. Hence my gratitude to this group and its administrators who provide factual and up-to-date answers, not biased or emotional ones!
Pierre Rondeau You will read about the horrendous amount of paperwork required for your marriage extension. Admittedly it can be a bit daunting the first time but the following year a lot of the paperwork is the same, so scan the first time and save. This applies to passport pages, map to your house, marriage certificates, blue book, spouse id etc. There are a few documents required that need updated annually though. Persevere and good luck.
Yesterday I obtained my extension of stay based on being over 50 myself for the 4th time. First two based on lump sum in bank and last two based on monthly transfers. Well done to you and you can be sure that next time it will be easier.
Tod is amazing ,,Dont know how he does it ,but he always turns up ,,Brandon never had any o e to one with him but from reading from afar his postings he also deserves every plaudit..well done to the both of you ,,inspirational
Graham Seal You're right, but I'm referring to the long process from the moment I apply for a non-immigrant O visa at the embassy in my country, and everything that follows: opening a bank account, lengthy marriage procedures, etc., etc., up to this one-year extension as you mentioned. Thank you.
