Hi, in need of advise.

Immigration could not advise me what to do.

I’m on OX visa 10/12/19- 9/12/24 expires.

After a short trip home in Feb 2020 I was stamped in until 14 March 2025.

I recently came back in 27/9/24 and have been stamped to leave when my visa expires 9/12/24 instead of

14 March 2025,I disputed this but told that the 14 March 2025 stamp was a mistake.

Iv been told that if I leave and come back in just before my visa expires I should get another 5 years, others have

done this it seems.

Any advise really appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing issues with their OX visa stamp and is seeking advice. They were initially stamped to stay until March 2025, but on their recent return, they were told this was a mistake and now must leave by December 2024. The user is considering exiting Thailand and re-entering to extend their stay but has received mixed advice on the process and requirements for obtaining another 5 years or extending their visa.

Sounds like you need to go back and read the conditions of your visa. It is always important to know exactly what visa you have, the conditions, and the requirements for extending it. If you are planning to get the 2nd 5 years, while inside Thailand, you better get organised very soon. But by the sounds of it, you were not anticipating the 2nd 5 year application, so head back home and get another 5 years.

Unless I'm mistaken that was actually the correct date to stamp you in until 😮

IF you exit/re-enter close to the OX expiring you only get stamped in until the VISA itself expires

you have to either go back to your country and get a new OX visa

OR

you have to extend it inside the country with the proof of funds, insurance, etc

OR

You could bounce out/back close to this stamp expiring, come in on a free stamp 60 day entry, then apply in country for the 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement, and after 2 months apply for the year extension <- neither of those require insurance

Just as an aside, I have never ever heard of anyone on an OX visa actually getting the in country 5 year extension from the immigration office when their first 5 years runs out 😮

Back in the day when Sydney was handing out those OX's with low requirements, people would just use the first 5 years, then go get another one.
