Looking for a bit of advice. I’m due to fly to Thailand on the 22nd January until 28th of Feb therefore will be 6 days over the allowed 30 days didn’t cross my mind I would need a visa. Just wondering can I do my visa when I’m in Phuket or will I be refused entry?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is traveling to Thailand for 37 days, exceeding the 30-day visa exemption, and is seeking advice on whether they can secure a visa in Phuket or risk being refused entry. Comments suggest obtaining a visa prior to travel or extending the stay at Phuket Immigration as alternatives. They note potential entry restrictions if no visa is arranged, and mention costs associated with both obtaining a visa beforehand and the extension process.

a lot of airlines check your ticket length...if no visa you can be stopped boarding...ba. always does this...

If you don't get the visa in advance, you run a small risk of immigration asking to see your return ticket and denying you since technically you are required to prove you are exiting the country before your visa exempt period is finished.

Get a visa. Extending can be painful..

If you arrive on Jan 22 visa free you would be stamped in until Feb 20 (the 30 days are inclusive) so leaving Feb 28 is 8 days overstay. But follow the above advice - either get a tourist visa in advance or do an extension at Immigration. Intentional overstay is bad idea ;-)

Enter on a 30 day exempt stamp and extent that at Phuket Immigration for 30 days. This gives you 60 days without running around for a visa.

Cost of visa prior to coming is around 1000 baht and either way, you have to go to an embassy or immigration. Your choice.

The cost for the extension is 1,900baht 🙂

Get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate/embassy before you come. That will give you 60 days so you won't have any issues.

£25 to get at U.K. Consulate, 1900 baht at Thai immigration office , (£40) saves wasting time while away ,
