Hi folks. I’m planning to go to Thailand (been previously for holidays but not to live) but would like to stay longer than the 30 day visa. I have an Irish passport and would like to stay for 6 months to maybe a year. If I like it and can make it work would like to stay longer. Can anyone help as to a visa that can do this or what’s the best way? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Irish passport holder looking to stay in Thailand for 6 months to a year has multiple visa options. A Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) can be effective, allowing entrance for 60 days each time with the possibility of extending each entry by 30 days, potentially totaling up to 9 months. An Education Visa (ED Visa) is also viable if enrolled in a school, such as for Muay Thai or Thai language. However, longer stays might require border runs and additional visa exemptions. It's advised to consult with a school for required documentation and to explore options according to personal circumstances.
To young for the o visa and oA visa retirement visa's as far as jobs go teaching English if you have a degree you will have to find a school that will take you, any degree you have will be ok the money is not the best but it will get you into Thailand
Get the METV as Steve said. You'll get stamped in for 60 days each time you enter Thailand, which can be extended by 30 days. So if timed perfectly you can get up to 9 months with it. If you want a year then add a couple of 30 day visa exempt entry border runs after the 9 months is up.
Going by the book, it is needed to apply from the country in country of residence, so doing it otherways are tweeking the visa system to personal benefit, which I do not recommend.
I am sorry. I really do not know any but I think you find s school that will accept you first and they will give you the paperwork. I am sure there are others in this group that will be more helpful.
