I have another question, if we arrive on January 10th from the USA we get a visa exempt entry of 60 days currently correct? If I book our return flight in April around the 25th can we do a border bounce by land or air and get visa exempt for 60 days again???

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of re-entering Thailand for another 60 days via a border bounce after initially entering on a visa exempt entry. The comments clarify that they can leave the country before their 60 days are over to obtain a new 60-day visa stamp upon re-entry and highlight the necessity of having an onward ticket and the potential need for a visa for the exit country, depending on their nationality.

It is the airline that may be fussy. They require an onward ticket within the 60 days of your arrival since there's no guarantee you will get an extension.

Basically no

Can't do return ticket and tell immigration it's because you're doing an extension

The simple answer is yes..

Personally I would fly out somewhere for at least overnight and come back as it's just easier than long road trips to and from the border

thank you, I was thinking I might have to physically come from the USA to get the 60 days.

A short cheap flight to either Cambodia or Malaysia could be worth looking at..

But check which of those countries are easier for entry on your passport..

Cambodia will likely require a visa (available on arrival) but not sure on Malaysia..

Book the flight in advance as it's likely to be cheaper

When you get an extension, does the 30 days start that day or after your original 60 days? Thx you.

You need to border bounce once to go beyond 90 days so book a flight to exitaround 55 days in and return to get your new 60 day stamp and have proof of onward travel for your initial flight

You would have to leave the country at some point because you can extend your 60 day exemption once for 30 more days. Your scenario is over 90 days.

You may need a onward ticket within the initial 60 days.
