Hi, I'm coming in November from UK, I will apply for a 60 day tourist visa which I believe I can extend for another 60 days due to been married to a Thai national?

Would it then be possible to leave thailand via nong khai to Vientiane and then come back in on a visa exempt for 30 (45) days ?

Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to enter Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa, which can be extended for another 30 days due to being married to a Thai national. Answers from the community confirm that, after this period, the user can leave Thailand via Nong Khai to Vientiane and re-enter on a visa exempt entry for an additional 30 (or 45) days. The process allows for multiple extensions and border runs, as local immigration offices can facilitate these transactions under the current visa regulations.

60 days on entry. One extension for 30 days off the tourist visa, then a 60 day “visit Thai family” extension, then you can border bounce for another 45+30+60 if you care to

Aah sorry, it's the "visit Thai family" thing I guess?

YES... you can enter with a Thai tourist visa and will be stamped in for 60 days Plus one 30 day extension of stay = 90 days.

Or you can ENTER VISA EXEMPT and get 45 days stamp plus one 30 day extension of stay for 1900 Thai baht at local Thai immigration office = 75 days stay

Then apply for the 60 days family visit extension at the local Thai immigration office for 1900 Thai baht...

Then you can do a simple land border run to Laos or Cambodia and get 45 days Visa exempt entry into Thailand... plus one 30 day extension of stay...

AND the 60 days family visit extension of stay...

Repeat the process ...you are allowed two LAND BORDER ENTRIES per calendar year.

The special 45 days Visa exempt entry is from October 1 2022 thru March 31 2023... after which it's 30 days

You can also get one 30 day tourist extension before having to border hop
