Can my mother be my sponsor for a DTV visa at the Madrid embassy, and what are the specific requirements?

Hello, I submitted a DTV visa and i'm reading that not all embassies accept a family member like a mother as a sponsor.

I'm applying to Madrid embassy and I have spanish passport. Do you guys know if this is true?

There are so much confusing info, like some people say I need to submit a 6mo statement, which means I need to have the 500k for long time to make sure it is not a single loan, and other say that adding those 500k one time is enough.

That's why my mother is sponsoring me, do you guys have any idea about it?

also, do you know how much time can I expect to have the approval?

Thanks for your help!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the sponsorship of their DTV visa application at the Madrid embassy, particularly regarding the acceptance of a family member (mother) as a sponsor. Additionally, they are confused about the requirements for proving financial stability, specifically whether a 6-month bank statement is needed to show the 500,000 THB or if a one-time deposit suffices. Comments from others mention that the Madrid embassy does require a 6-month bank statement and additional documentation, leading to further questions about processing times and sponsorship options.

I called madrid embassy about the requirements of applying DTV visa before ( I'm Spanish passport holder ) and they have a lot of requirements including the 6 months bank statement accumulating the 500k thb (in EU currency) and also payslips, etc. I was living and working in Malta that time so I decided to apply in Athens instead via E-visa 🙏

It has been mentioned that to extend you need to show the money again. However people are saying to avoid this do a border run. Doing a border run does not mean the immigration officer can not ask for the 500k to be shown. It is not likely but not impossible. Will you show a sponsor letter?

I guess sponsor letter or I can have a transfer too if I only need to show balance

Anonymous participant It is not certain, looks unlikely even, anyone will ever be asked to show a balance on entry but I hope they would accept online balance on Bank App.

Usually I will not spend over 6mo in Thailand, but when the time comes we'll have more info as it will be in around 6 months. I think a good idea is to have sponsorship as it is with what I applied for, statement from my mom's bank updated and also mine with a 500k transfer I guess.

Thank you for the info too.

I've only seen spouse and kids of a primary DTV holder using this. If anyone else was allowed to sponsor I suspect they'd have to live in Thailand.

Normally even when they ask for 6 months of statements it's just to see account activity and just the closing balance has to be over 500k baht or equivalent

That was my intention, but I read many places that it should be 6 months balance to make sure it is not a single loan. But now also many people say that with a single loan is enough...

this is from a person that asked the embassy in Hanoi, if his employer could be his sponsor...

Unfortunately I have not seen anyone applying in Spain with a sponsorship.
