What are the requirements for the DTV visa in Thailand regarding bank funds and sponsorship letters?

I hope someone might be able to help with a few questions about the DTV visa.

From what I can read, to get approved, I must be able to provide evidence of having 500k baht in my bank account. That's fine, but do the money have to stay there for the entire stay in Thailand or am I allowed to use some of it?

The alternative is a sponsorship letter, if I'm not wrong? What would that look like? Does anyone have an example of such a letter?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a DTV visa, you must show evidence of having 500,000 baht in your bank account. This amount does not need to remain untouched for the entire stay; however, if you plan to extend your visa while in Thailand, you may be asked to provide proof of these funds again. There is a possibility of using a sponsorship letter, but it is primarily applicable for cases where a main DTV visa holder sponsors their spouse or dependents. Many users recommend checking directly with the relevant Thai embassy or consulate for specific requirements.

Forget the idea of the sponsorship letter. It's really a no go. Have 500,000 Thai in any bank account in your name. Look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you are applying for the DTV visa for their requirements for the money in the bank statements NEEDED.

Thanks for the answers 😉 Follow up question. Do I just leave Thailand for a day or two (maybe fly to Malaysia) and then return to get another 180 days?

No alternative...just have 500,000 b or equivalent in your main bank .a/c.eg: the account you use everyday..that's the only question they ask me .. i said only use cash and show that in my transfers to here...also ...I am sure you don't need to keep money in that account from what I have read ..but that's a maybe ...

No, the money does not need to stay for the length of the visa. But, if you intend to do an in country extension, you will almost certainly be asked to show the funds again. A sponsorship letter would typically only work in the case of a primary DTV holder sponsoring their spouse or dependants.
