Does my spouse have to have 500k in an account of their own? All of our accounts are joint. Can I submit the same proof for both of us? What about our son? He's under 8. We have an investment account for him but it's not in his name because he's a minor.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question addresses the need for a separate bank account with a minimum balance for a spouse in relation to Thai immigration. Comments suggest that individuals can use joint accounts and provide sponsorship letters, affirming financial responsibility for both spouse and child. It's also recommended to contact the embassy directly for specifics as requirements may vary.

Every embassy is a little different with this requirement so you need to ask them. We are also joint account holders and had to show bank balance of 1M THB for my dependent spouse DTV at the Thai consulate in Vancouver..

I used the same bank statements in my name for 2 of my dependants (children). Just write a sponsor letter stating you are financially responsible for them in thailand. Use ChatGPT for a template

Write a sponsorship letter including the sufficient account balance statement and state that you will be financially responsible for your wife and child. One letter for each application. Refer to your DTV visa number as primary holder.

Email and ask specifically for your situation to the embassy you are applying. That way you’ll get accurate info on what they require.
