Can I get DTV approval while in Thailand and do a border run afterward?

Hello,

Has anyone managed to get the DTV approved while already in Thailand?

Is it possible to do a border run and get the stamp afterward?

I’m currently waiting for approval, but my flight is in a few days, and I might only receive the DTV after I arrive in Thailand.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of obtaining DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) approval while already in Thailand and the option of performing a border run to secure a visa stamp. Users express caution regarding potential complications such as the requirement for passport copies and the risk of being asked for an in-person interview. Some community members suggest avoiding risks and waiting for official approval, while others share personal experiences that range from success to caution against such actions.

Mate I will go to HCM soon (in Thailand now), and I won't go back till I get the stamp in my passport, don't play with your luck better. If you are rejected then you can come on arrival also but if you are approved, congrats

With all respect thats not a good recommendation. Because VOA can't be used too many times, I believe max is 2 per year. So it deffers to everybodys situation. I was applying for my DTV in Penang, and was in that situation. Flights booked ahead, used already 2 VOA, everything organised and planned but visa processing took longer than anticipated. I was prepared to NOT go on the flight and just wait until I get it and buy new flight. However, I was fortunate and got the visa 2 days before my booked flight, so I was able to go on my new visa and hit a last day party too. I allowed myself 16 days to process all in Penang, and made it. If I was going again, I would probably book trip a full month, because it was tight and stressful. Hope this helps someone.

I don't know what is VOA, in my case I am married in Thailand, so I have more option, and if VOA means visa on arrival, you can get 2 or 3 per year, if is the first one this year you will ok, I stay LEGALLY in Thailand already for 7'8 years, and following the country rules I never ever had issues coming back.

It’s been reported by some people as possible; keep in mind, your results may vary, and it’s not what you’re supposed to do. In theory anything could happen from nothing to rejected for fraudulent applications. Why risk it?

thank you very much for the answer. I was thinking logically like this:

I applied for DTV from outside the Thailand. - this is how it should be done.

after that I have traveled to Thailand with my tourist visa on arrival - this is legal and I can do that right?

whenever I get visa approved I will do the border run , (I can go out the Thailand whenever I want). and when I go back, I will show the visa which I have.

what is illegal here or what is what's they are saying not to do I do not get

Anonymous participant why go back to Thailand and go back for DTV just stay there it's cheaper than back and forward. If the embassy checks your visa you are not in the country so you will be rejected. If you want the DTV for 5 years stay in the country you apply and you can get it. If you don't want it don't apply simple what you trying to scam the system you want to mess it for everyone

Anonym deltagare not every embassy have it spelled out on their web pages, but some do... You are supposed to stay while the visa is being processed.

See example from Thai Embassy in the Netherlands. ⬇️
