Hi! I applied for the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). If I don’t receive a response before my flight date, can I still travel to Thailand on a normal tourist visa-on-arrival? Once in Thailand, if my DTV is approved, would I be able to leave the country and return with the DTV? Also, would there be any issues at immigration if they see that I have a pending DTV application? I’m not sure if immigration can even see this information.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about traveling to Thailand on a normal tourist visa-on-arrival while waiting for their Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). Comments clarified that there is no tourist visa on arrival, but eligible travelers can receive a 60-day entry stamp if they arrive without a visa. If the DTV is approved after entry, it can be activated by leaving the country and re-entering. Some embassies may require applicants to stay until the visa is issued, and concerns about immigration checking pending applications were raised, emphasizing that the situation can vary depending on the embassy.

It actually depends on what embassy you applied at. Some, South Korea being one, actually state that you must remain in the country until your visa is issued. According to other posts, Poland has also denied visas to people that left the country before it was issued. As

pointed out some embassies are asking for additional proof of location or even that you must come in for an interview.

Yes, as long as you don't get called for an interview.

The answer to your question is yes. If your visa is issued after you’re in the country you can do a border run to activate it. I was in Thailand 3 weeks before mine was issued.

you can’t get a tourist visa on arrival

There's no such thing as a tourist visa on arrival. If your passport qualifies for visa exempt then you'll receive a 60 day entry stamp if you arrive without a visa.

There's no issues as long as the embassy doesn't ask you for proof of your physical location again.
