Can I get a SETV from the embassy in Phnom Penh before my flight to Bangkok?

Hi

I went to the embassy in Phnom Penh on Friday morning but it was closed so I won't be able to apply till Monday morning, I'm currently planning on flying to Bangkok on Wednesday morning.

Do you think that would be enough time to get a SETV done before I leave if I explain the situation to them politely or should I try and reschedule my flight.

Is there anything else I can do if I wanted to stay in Thailand till a week or two after New year, like extending a visa exempt or something?

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about the timeline for obtaining a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) from the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, facing a time constraint before their flight to Bangkok. Responses suggest considering changing the flight due to the processing time and possible delays, recommending alternatives such as entering Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry and extending it if needed.

I went to the embassy today and they said it wouldn't be done before Thursday so I'm going to go back to Thailand and get a visa exempt and extend it.

Thanks for the help. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Most people (as in easily over 80% of the people who use the thai consulate in Phnom Penh use agents there to push paper <- turn in the application packet.

In the past they could "bend the timeline" and get visas issued faster than the 3 days posted on the thai consulate's website

BUT

There are reports that not all of them can do it anymore and most tell you it'll be 3 working days to get your passport back.

This leaves you with several choices:

FIND an agent and see if they can get the visa faster for a fee

Move your flight back so you can get the visa yourself

Enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry and extend that by 30 days for 1900baht at the immigration office.

You can pay for next day. Fast service. I think...

Takes 3 - 5 days in PP

Good, I hope you did not pay $ 43 to wait an extra day, or $ 47 to get it on the day mentioned by the consulate. The rules of traveling by land borders changed on 31 Dec 2016 to 30 days for 54 countries with a maximum of 2 Visa Exempt Entries a year. And the double Entry Tourist Visa does not exist at all, so I hope you have the Single Entry Tourist Visa, otherwise it could give some problems when you show it to the Immigration Officer.

I just got back from phnom phen... it's still relevant. The bike shop is still the king of visas.

That link is about as much use as a British Rail time table.

Page is from 2014, lots of old and incorrect information. But the part of the motorbike shop could still be good.

@Robert ******
from experience it is all done via agents in Phnom Penh or certainly was when I did last. There used to be a fast track but it was still a couple of days to get done I did read somewhere recently they had stopped the fast track but can not remember the source
Robert *******
Why you think? You know out of experience or where did you read that there is a fast service at that consulate?

@Chance ****
thanks I'll ask about that when I'm there.

You can come back into Thailand, get the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, apply for a 30 day Extension of Stay and you're good for 2 months.

@Robert ******
that would be perfect actually, thanks

Looks to me, you better change the schedule: PROCESSING TIME

3 working days ( i.e. apply on Monday morning and pick up on Wednesday afternoon)
