How soon can I request a 30-day extension on my 60-day tourist visa in Thailand and change my return flight date?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all well. So I finally got my SETV approved from the Thai Embassy in Paris (it took 5 weeks and I used the services of an agency- Rapidevisa). I’ll arrive in Bangkok on December 17. My return flight is booked for Jan 13, however I plan on staying longer; between extensions and leaving the country once, I plan on returning home at the end of April. Two questions: 1. How soon can I request the 30 day extension on my current 60 day tourist visa? and 2. How soon can I rebook my final return flight on April 30? If need be, in the interim, I’ll book a cheap onward flight when requesting other extensions and/or visa exemptions. The thing is, I don’t want to have to rebook my final return flight more than once and, obviously, I need to change the return date before January 13. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me. You guys have been immensely helpful.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has received their 60-day Thai SETV and is asking when they can request a 30-day extension and when they can change their return flight booked for January 13 to a later date. Responses indicate that extensions can generally be requested when 30 days or less remain on the visa at most offices, and longer at larger offices. Additionally, users mentioned that flight dates can be modified anytime after arrival in Thailand.

You can order flights 1 year before your flight. The earlier you order, the cheaper flights are

Do you mean you have a 60 day tourist visa in which you have to enter Thailand with 90 days?

I have a 60 day SETV. I erroneously wrote 90 as I was already including the extension. My apprehension was about the new return date for my flight home, April 30, 2024. When I ask for the 30 day extension on the 60 day SETV, won't they want to see a return flight within those 30 days?

I had my tourist visa approved with a return flight 6 months ahead of my arrival date. The only people who usually ask are your airline and showing them your visa is enough to satisfy their boarding requirements.

Isnt your visa 60 days? The 90 days is the time in which you have to start it. What is your nationality?

Yes, you are correct. Sorry for the error. I have rectified it now. (I'm US/Italian)

You can apply for an extension when you have 30 days or less left at most offices and 45 days or less left at large offices like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket. A couple only allow 7 days though like Jomtien and Koh Samui.

You can change your flight as soon as you're in Thailand.

Just to be sure: So, when I request the 30 day extension, they won't want to see a flight out of Thailand before those 30 days are up?

@Kay *****
no, never a requirement for tourist extension. Only asked for very rarely during covid.
