* Hi, I have a few questions, some probably dumb but I can't find answers easily. Firstly, is it possible to apply for the SETV while still in Thailand? That way one could get their approval letter, leave the country for a day or two and walk or fly back in. Also, about how many days does the application take to process? Finally, how many days does this 'Proof of Hotel or private accommodation booking' refer to? Do I need to show booking for the full 60 days? Thanks for any help...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post asks if an individual can apply for a Thai Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) while in Thailand, which is not allowed. Applications must be made at a Thai embassy in a nearby country. Comments highlight the importance of meeting visa requirements due to potential challenges given the individual's long stay in Thailand, and they suggest border runs as an alternative.
And as it appears that you have been in Thailand for several years, be careful with seeking another visa in SE Asia. Likely to be DENIED .
And DO NOT FLY into Thailand. As you may be questioned by Thai Immigration Officers upon arrival .. WHY do you stay so long in Thailand?
Your best bet for the immediate term is the Land BORDER BOUNCE. You already know you can do max of 2 LAND BORDER entries per CALENDAR YEAR. Each gets you 30 days stamp plus one 30 day extension of stay.
You can't apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand. None of the surrounding countries use the e-visa system so you need to visit a Thai embassy in a nearby country to get a tourist visa
