Hi. Sorry for the long post but could someone help me with a question about applying for a tourist visa to go back into Thailand from Cambodia please. I have been in Thailand since May, arriving on visa exempt. I extended for 30 days and then travelled to Cambodia where I am now. I now want to go back into Thailand. Can I apply for a tourist visa from Cambodia and how long does it take to process? Do I get the visa the same day or does it take a while to go through? Do I have to have accommodation booked in Thailand? I also know that I need to show my flight details out of Thailand. Currently that’s booked for 18th August but I obviously would change that if I get the tourist visa. Should I change the flight now or just leave it. I’m worried they would decline the tourist visa and just give me visa exemption. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the process of applying for a tourist visa to return to Thailand from Cambodia after initially entering Thailand on a visa-exempt basis. They seek clarification on whether they can apply for a tourist visa while in Cambodia, the processing time, the necessity of booking accommodation in Thailand, and whether they should change their current exit flight. Several comments offer advice, including using an embassy website for specific details on processing times, the distinction between visa exemption and tourist visas, and the suggestion to contact a travel agency in Cambodia for assistance.

Idk where ur from but if ur passport allows visa exempt 30 day tourist visa…which u received when u first arrived….then u can fly in again and get a 30 day tourist visa…and then extend for 30

Days for 1900 baht if u want to stay longer. You should have a onward flight booked for leaving either after ur 30 or 60 days if ur renewing

there's no 30 day tourist visa. There's visa exempt which means NO visa.

I know but she said she arrived on visa exempt 30 day so I don’t understand why she can’t do the same as her initial entry. No need for a visa if her passport allows 30 days visa exempt?

you said she could get a 30 visa exempt tourist visa. There isn't one.

I use visa for visa exempt. My bad but I did say she can get visa exempt 30 day entry. She doesn’t need a visa. She’s visa exempt as she stated. Not sure why people are telling her to get a 30 day tourist visa when she’s visa exempt…unless I’m missing something.

She arrived visa exempt …no reason why she can’t do the same again.

Do what Brandon said. And then contact Thai Visa Centre to arrange BIP airport service so you won't have any issues with immigration when you arrive at the airport in Thailand.

yes, use an agent in Cambodia,( try Cina travel on street 130 near riverside) cost is $60 if in Phnom Penh , some request you have at least $1,000 in a bank account

takes 3-4 working days

Maybe explain how long your hoping to stay in Thailand. And why you're worried about returning visa exempt.

ideally until just after Christmas but I don’t know if that’s possible. I read somewhere that you can come in on visa exempt, extend for 30 days then leave Thailand and fly back in and do the same up to six times if by air. I just don’t know if this is still true.

it's up to immigration if you'd get away with it. Staying in Thailand claiming to be a tourist for months on end, might raise questions.

yes I understand that. It’s tricky. I would potentially doing this 3 times to get me past Christmas.

it's best to minimize the entries to Thailand so I'd go to Phnom Penh and get the tourist visa. 4 visa exempt entries by air is going to be pushing your luck. However you can also do visa exempt twice a year by land border, if you choose that use a legitimate border run company. They usually won't take you unless they can get you back in.

so you'd be best to do a proper visa surely.

Embassy in Cambodia won't give you a visa exemption. They'll either give you the visa you apply for, or they won't. Visa exempt is the 30 day exempt stamp you get when entering the country ( depending on your passport).

Check the website of the embassy. They will have how long it will take, what the requirements are, and if you require an appointment.
