Hi guys!

Quick question:

Me and my girlfriend are going to Kuala Lumpur, Thai Embassy, to get a SETV in January - How long does the process of getting a Visa usually take and do you think it's doable for us to go there on a Thursday (~10/1) and get the Visa on Friday or is the handling time usually longer than this?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a SETV visa at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur typically allows for applications submitted on Thursday morning to be collected by Friday afternoon. However, it is advised to check for Thai national holidays as the embassy may be closed, and it is also suggested to plan an extra day just in case of unexpected delays. The embassy's operational times and procedures may change, so it's important to keep an eye on their website.

Where are you flying in from? I always aim to arrive night before (I fly in from Phuket). Pickup is at 14.30 day after submitting your passport. There's normally a couple of guys looking to drive you to the airport outside one you collect your passport ( about 90 mr)

have you been to the website to check the requirements etc etc. If you follow all that then it's pretty smooth running.

Flying from Koh Samui. Looking to maybe make a weekend out of it. But wouldn't like to spend to many weekdays in KL (or any other nice suggestion which isn't to pricy)

Bali is also super easy and has no lines. And well, Bali is Bali, so you have that as a bonus.

Less friendly.

Long wait to hand in your application.

More scrutiny in checking your documents.

I would add in an extra day to be safe. Enough things could go askew to prevent you from being successful. There is plenty to do in KL to keep you busy for an extra day. πŸ™‚

It works fine for me, it is the checklist for the Non Immigrant B visa, needed if you like to work inside Thailand.

Keep in mind that KL Malaysia has a time difference from Bkk Thailand - use Google Adjust accordingly

Make sure you don’t apply or collect at a Thai National holiday. Closed days are shown on the Embassy website, but not yet 2019. Mid January should be fine.
