Hi all ,

Would really appreciate it if you could help me out with some info on re entry permits . I’m from a country that requires a prearranged tourist visa .I’m currently here on a covid extension , originally came on a tourist visa . I would like to go back home before coming to Thailand for a few days before flying to North America. This is because I am getting a really good deal on tickets from Bangkok . Would it be possible to get a re entry permit on a covid extension as it would save me the hassle of applying for a tourist visa ?

Also if it is possible , would it be better to do it here in Bangkok or at the airport before flying ?

Thanks !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry seeks information about obtaining a re-entry permit while on a COVID-19 visa extension in Thailand, specifically whether it's possible to acquire such a permit to avoid applying for a new tourist visa after traveling home. Responses indicate that obtaining a re-entry permit on a COVID extension is generally not allowed, as the extension is tied to being unable to travel, and there have been no verified reports of anyone successfully obtaining such a permit.

I have never seen a single person get a re-entry permit on a covid extension, nor have I heard of a single verified report of it being done.

I'd say you need to look for other options.

Covid-19 extension are based on 'unable to travel', therefore, you won't get a re-entry permit, as you would be able to travel out of Thailand.

I don't think you can. You can (in theory) get a re-entry permit ,but I don't think there is a way to get a Certificate of Entry for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

In theory, I thought people are no longer met the requirement for a Covid extension (due to unable to travel) when leaving Thailand (that means you can travel).

Anyway, OP can try but as you say, I agree there wouldn't be a way to get CoE (or Thai pass which requirements are unclear) for a Covid extension if OP can really purchase a re-entry permit...
