Can I apply for a Thailand tourist visa from a country where I'm not a resident?

Hello ๐Ÿ™‚

1. It seems that it's not possible to request a tourist visa while in a country you're not a resident, is this correct?

2. If i have a valid visa in Thailand and re-entry, could I go to another country I'm not a resident (USA) and then return here?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around the possibility of applying for a Thailand tourist visa while being outside one's country of residence. According to responses, it is generally possible to apply for a tourist visa from a non-resident country, as long as one can demonstrate legal presence in that country (e.g., entry stamp). However, the commentary indicates that applying for such visas as easily as before may have changed due to COVID-19 restrictions, with advice favoring the use of available COVID-19 extensions for those currently in Thailand.

people apply for tourist visas to thailand from countries they're not from all the time. you have to show that you can legally be IN that country (usually your entry stamp is enough).

BUT

Those days of bouncing out to a thai consulate in Vientiane / Savannakhet Lao or Penang / Kota Bharu Malaysia to snap up a tourist visa and come right back are long gone.

That stuff stopped when this covid shit show started.

If you're here now, the best advice would be take the 60 day covid extensions for as long as they run the program.

I'm in Thailand right now on Covid extension, i hold a Brazilian passport. I need to go to USA and return to Thailand.

So i just wanted to know if I could request a Tourist visa when I'm there or if applying for visa while I'm here (SMART, ED, etc.) and request a re-entry would be safer

But if you were gonna apply for a visa in the US at the thai consulate your entry stamp TO the US is all you need to submit to show you "reside" legally in the US when you apply

you're from Brazil, you get stamped in for FREE for 90 days when you show up here AND you can use that entry stamp to convert to a non-immigrant type visa of another type of visa inside the country if you qualified for one.

I'd say don't even waste your time applying for a 60 day tourist visa when you're in the USA, just come back on your 90 day visa exempt entry.

It was only a requirement for the STV requiring you to be a resident. In general, you can apply for a tourist visa in a country you are not a resident.
