Can I extend my trip in Thailand if I have a CoE and tourist visa?

Hello. When I applied for my CoE I listed a specific date for my departure. I am looking to extend my trip for a couple extra weeks. If I do, I will still be within my tourist visa (after extending for 30 days). None of the paper work I have been given by the government since entering says anything about being required to leave on a certain date other than my visa. Can I extend my trip?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your trip in Thailand even if you initially listed a specific departure date when applying for your Certificate of Entry (CoE). Once in the country, there is no requirement to leave on that specific date. If you entered on a tourist visa, you are eligible for a 30-day extension, and if the Covid extension program is active, you could receive a 60-day extension.

You applied for permission to enter the country with the COE but once you're here there is no requirement to show you're leaving the country on any specific date.

If you came in on a tourist visa entry (60 days) or a visa exempt entry (45 days) you can get ONE 30 day extension and if the covid extension program is still in effect you could get a 60 day covid extension.

I see you say ONE 30 day extension on a visa exempt entry. But I just got 60 days. Did they make a mistake. I did ask for 60 days

Okay krap. Understand now. Thank you

, I bet dollars to durian IF you looked at your extension stamp you'd see that it says "ข้อ 5" someplace on it.

That is a 60 day covid extension not the regular 30 day extension you can get from a tourist visa or visa exempt entry.

how many dollars and how much durian?

just so you're clear, you can get an extension for that reason ONCE per entry, which is why most people get the covid extensions (as long as they're available) rather than burn thru their only 60 day visit family extension

Still I stand corrected, :)

you know I almost edited my post right after I posted it to say "or you got a 60 day extension based on visiting thai family"

Which is exactly what you did ;)
