Can you tell me please what is the maximum length of stay I can get. Arriving on 60 day tourist visa from uk. Is it 90 days or could I get more time allocated by flying to Burma before 60 days are up , and then returning to thailand using re entry permit? Or is that not allowed thanks for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Upon entering Thailand with a 60-day tourist visa, you will be granted a stay of 60 days. There is an option to extend your stay for an additional 30 days at a local immigration office. However, obtaining a re-entry permit will not extend your stay. To maximize your stay, you could leave Thailand for a neighboring country, like Burma, and return without a visa, which would grant you another 30 days plus the possibility of a further 30-day extension.

When you enter Thailand on A Tourist Visa, you will be stamped for 60 days including the arrival day. Then you can apply for 30 days tourism extension at the local immigration office. That's all you can stay on a tourist visa.

A re-entry permit wouldn't add extra days to your current permitted-until-stay. But if you leave without a re-entry permit to a neighboring country and come back to Thailand without a visa, you as a UK person enter Thailand on visa-exempt, which gives you new 30 days and eligible for 30 days tourism extension, too.

so I could potentially get 150 days. Is that correct Ellie?

, not really.

entering on Torusits visa is up to 90 days. Visa-exempt entry is up to 60 days, both including tourism extensions. That is only what we can say for sure.

And yes, you can apply for a tourist visa in neighboring countries.

Now, How many times can you do those back-to-backs? It depends on the immigration officer at the passport control on your entering Thailand. Eventually, when the IO gets doubt, you would be pulled aside and asked about your purpose for staying in Thailand, etc. Some people got asked at the second entry, and some could go through passport control many times without being questioned.

If you got another tourist visa in a neighbouring country, you could get 180 days.

don't think Burma is an option right now. Laos, Malaysia or Cambodia better.
