Please, can someone tell me if there’s an immigration office near Koh Samui or ideally Koh Tao where they have successfully received a 60-day covid extension? I need to request a 60-day covid extension, and I’m currently in Chiang Mai and the immigration officer just told me she can only give me 15-day “under consideration” then I’d have to come back to Chiang Mai Immigration. However, I won’t be able to come back to Chiang Mai within that time-frame because on Monday I’m flying to Koh Samui then go to Koh Tao for 3 weeks. My current 30-day extension expires Dec 27 so I still have time to renew it somewhere near the islands. If anyone has had success getting a 60-day covid extension on Koh Tao or at the Samui Immigration Office I’d really appreciate to hear how it went! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about immigration offices in Koh Samui and Koh Tao that offer 60-day COVID extensions. Responses indicate that there are immigration offices in both locations that can process COVID extensions, though the applicant may need to visit multiple times. It’s essential for the applicant to have their address registration done in the respective district before applying for the extension. Further, advice points to checking local updates on procedures since they may change.

There IS an immigration office in Koh Tao. And it's supposed to be issuing a 30days tourist extension and a 60days covid extension. But this information is a bit while back. Please check for the newest information with Koh Tao local group.

Surat Thani immigration (that Koh Samui & Koh Tao immigration offices belong to) does under consideration stamp + rest stamp for Covid. No one-time deal for the whole period.

Update: Success! I went to Koh Tao Immigration this morning and got my full 60-day covid extension on the spot (no “15-day under consideration”) 😄

The whole process was very simple and efficient. The officer only needed me to show the screen shot of the TM30 done online by my hotel, and I didn’t need to get it filled out nor printed (of course, I had the other forms filled out and the copies of my passport and stamps). There was nobody else waiting at immigration so I was in and out in 20mins!

I'm from Samui. The process is similar as reported in Chiang Mai. 15 days under consideration then remaining 45days stamped on that 15th day (so 2 visits at immigration, must be same office and must be where your address is registered).

The latter is one issue you'll have to deal with before requesting your Covid extension in Samui: having your address registration done in Samui district (either Samui, Phangan or Tao) before being able to apply for an extension at Samui's immigration office. Hotels and other rentals have 24 hours to report your stay at immigration (TM30). So you either check-in at your place in Koh Tao and come back to Samui/Phangan immigration office to make your initial covid extension request then come back again 15 days later for the remaining OR stay 2 days in Samui prior to leaving for Tao and have your initial request done to save one back and forth trip from Tao.

* I'm not sure the Phangan imm. office still operates

* Some people have their full 60days stamped in on initial request but they weren't on their first extension in Samui

For the opp. You can also use the IO on Koh Phangan instead of Samui

thanks for the suggestions. But do you know if I can just do the whole 60-day covid extension request while I’m in Koh Tao? That would simplify everything, my Tao accommodation can prepare my TM30 when I arrive Monday (Dec 20), then I could go get my visa Dec 21, and if required I can go back to KT immigration Jan 5 (15-days). That saves the hassle of doing it in Samui during my transfers.

@Megan *******
yeah I would definitely try that if the KT office is operating 👍👍👍

One more thing to note, you could have your Tao's landlord/hotel registering you in advance of your arrival (for the day of your arrival) and squeeze in your visit at immigration between your arrival in Samui and your transfer to Tao. It shouldn't take more than 2 hours to get this sorted out in Samui if you have all your paperwork in order.

I’m at the immigration as we speak. Waiting to get 30 days.

There are forms here for a 2 month Covid Extension. I understand that your country’s restrictions have to prevent you returning. Not sure how strict they are.

The immigration office is in Soi 1 Maenam

Get here early - it’s quite busy, but efficient

Sorry, Koh Samui Immigration that is.

here's the Surat Thani Immigration website that lists the immigration offices in that province.
