Hello!

I would like to apply for 1 year extension of my Thai Wife stamp.

I did my first application last year in Bangkok but now I'm temporarily in Samui.

Can I apply for the extension in Samui or do I need to go back to Bangkok?

Thank you for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for a 1-year extension of their Thai Wife visa stamp while temporarily in Samui, having previously applied in Bangkok. A comment clarifies that the application should be made at the immigration office where the applicant is registered as residing. If the user is merely on a short stay in Samui without proper registration, they must return to Bangkok to apply.

"temporally in Samui" as in you filed a TM30 showing that is now your residence, you file your 90 day reports there and you're there living with your thai wife?

OR

you're just there for a while?

I ask because you apply for a new yearly extension at the office where you are registered as staying in.

AND remember that you need to apply for the year extension, get the 30 day under consideration stamp STAY in that area until you can get the year extension inked in.

Meaning if you're just on holiday in Samui and still have your residence up in Bangkok, slog on back up here and apply for it at the Chaengwattana office like you did last year

thanks for your prompt reply. I’m in Samui since 5 months. Did my last 90 day reporting here.

But indeed will return to bangkok next month so I understand better go to chaengwattana.

The 90 day was just so easy here that i wish i could it here. Thanks Tod

when you get back to bangkok (even though it's not officially required) go to MTT and file a new TM30 (or use the online program if you're registered for it) SO that when you go to apply for your next yearly extension and the officer see a samui 90 day report receipt you can show here you're already re-registered to be IN Bangkok.
