Ok so there’s been talks about this so I want to see if anyone else has this experience. I extended 30 days before sept 26 during a temporary immigration set in koh phangan. I’m due to travel tomorrow to chiang mai. Am I able to get my new stamp till nov 30th at an immigration in chiang mai ? Thank you .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about obtaining a new visa stamp in Chiang Mai after having their previous extension under consideration due to a temporary immigration situation in Koh Phangan. Comments suggest that one must return to the immigration office that issued the original stamp to finalize any extensions or corrections. This implies that traveling to other immigration offices may not resolve the issue, especially if the case is marked as under consideration.

the rule is you have to go back to the immigration office that issued the stamp to get the "loop closed".

CALL the Surat Thani Immigration office and talk to them BEFORE you wing your way to Chiang Mai because no office will "close the loop" on an open 'under consideration" stamp from a different office.

I also have the 11th of October from Samui Immigration and when I got the stamp they told me to come on the 12th but now I just saw this so...??

if they told you to come on the 12 then go on the 12

I will :).

Well it was all very unclear as when I got the first stamp the woman said can go before or after. Now they told me any day after the 11th October is fine just as long as it’s before the 31st Oct 🤯

actually reading the stamp in your passport is specifically says you should go back to the immigration on that date, so no matter what you were told. You should follow the instructions

since the 11th of October is a Sunday, should we go before (9th) or after (12th)? Disclaimer: tried calling the CW office and no answer.

also note that immigration is closed on the 13th in observance of King Bhumibol's passing.

after. go on the 12th

so just been to Samui immigration with my under consideration stamp expiring on the 11th October they told me they were unauthorised to stamp or sign for the next part of it early. Then said we just have to come back before the 31st October. Is this normal?

@Je**
, As Benjamin and others talked above, you cannot go to get an extension stamp closing "under consideration" earlier than your stamp, and it is normal. You need to go on that date or next business day, or later if your extension is with embassy letter. You went there 4 days earlier... not sure about the "they are authorized" part or just your application is being processed.

Thank you all.

Did you get your 30days extension using your embassy later or "normal" 30days extension from a Tourist visa or visa-exempt entry?

If it's with the embassy letter, I would get a "corrected" stamp at the local immigration office. I'm not sure you can correct your stamp until Nov 30th at another immigration office. My understanding (may be wrong though) is: this is not a new extension, but a corrected stamp. Under normal circumstances (aka before COVID chaos), only the issuing immigration office can correct the entry/admitted until stamp.
Ellie *******
No, you may not. If you go earlier, they just tell you that come back on that date...

@Ellie ******
yes with embassy letter. Yes under consideration stamp till oct 25th

If your current stamp is under consideration and not closed yet, you NEED to go to THAT immigration office on THAT date (or later)..

but cannot do sooner than the stamped date ? I am Headed to chianv chiang mai tomorrow for a couple of months ... so means I can’t go then ?

I guess no harm to call them to ask if you can go earlier. The worst answer would be you need to go on THAT date (in this case, Monday, 26th Oct). If they stated earlier date, its a bonus.

Its It’s a shame as i am due to fly to chiang mai tomorrow.. ah well will see what happens. Ironically the stamp is oct 25 which is a sunday Sunday - so obviously not open on that day .

As things stand you go to ko Samui (or possibly suratthani) to close the loop. They may open a temporary office in Koh phangan again or not.
Benjamin ******
If you have an "under consideration" stamp in your passport, you'll need to go to Koh Phangan (or whatever that immigration is) to close it. You can visit other areas in Thailand of course.
