I'm on a non-immigrant b visa but not currently working. In that case can I get the 60 day covid visa extension?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A holder of a Non-Immigrant B visa who is not currently working may face issues regarding the visa's validity, as the visa is typically tied to employment. If the individual has been unemployed for more than 7 days, they are considered to be in overstay. However, they can apply for a 60-day COVID visa extension by presenting termination paperwork at the immigration office. It's important to note that the extension will begin from the application date, not from the current visa's expiration date.

Go to the immigration office with termination paperwork or something from your company saying you're not employed anymore and you should be able to apply for a 60 day covid extension not problem.
Keep in mind because you're "changing the reason" for your stamp (from employment to covid) they will start the 60 day extension on the date you apply not add it to your current expiration date

Technically your typeB visa expired after you quit working, so you are on overstay if you ended working more than 7 days ago, as you have a 7 day grace period to leave the country, or get a different job/visa extension. That visa does not last until its expiration date if you are not working.
A visa is stamped used when you enter BUT the 90 day entry stamp you get from the visa is good and can't be cancelled even if the reason you got the visa changes once you're here.
They are allowed to stay for the 90 day stamp they got when they entered the country whether they worked a single day here or not. That's how entry stamps from VISAS work.
You're thinking of an extension of stay

You have a sticker... you're fine. Getting confused with extension of stay.
if you are no longer working everything was cancelled, and voided. You only get a type B visa/extension if you have a job, and you only get to keep it while you are working.
I doubt there's a lot of people who enter on a non-b, didn't extend it, and try to get a 60day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

Richard Swire I arrived in the end of November with a non-b valid until the end of Feb (3 months length) and a wp3 which has not been canceled or covered into a work permit.
