Can I apply for a 60-day Covid extension on a Non-imm B visa for teaching, and how does a work permit affect this?

Is it possible to apply for the 60-day Covid extension from a Non-imm B (teaching) visa ( = visa, not extension, entry stamped to mid-March)? Have there been successful cases like this?

Reason = aspects of job not falling into place inc. timeframe, options for moving on / flying out unpredictable. I'm aware there'd be no working on the Covid extension.

One last question: if my work permit is issued between now and mid-March (the stamped-to date) would that make it difficult or impossible to get the Covid extension?

Thanks for your patience!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post queries whether it is possible to obtain a 60-day Covid extension from a Non-Immigrant B visa (teaching) and is concerned about the implications of receiving a work permit before mid-March. Responses suggest that acquiring a work permit could lead to a one-year extension based on employment, raising questions about the individual's job status.

"Reason = aspects of job not falling into place inc. " . . does this mean you plan to quit the job ?

- It hasn't properly started, signed no contract, verbal acceptance, and clarity on dates and details is lacking. But effectively yes, planning to turn down the job and I now have four weeks to end of admitted stay on my visa.

If you get a work permit, chances are extremely good you'd get a one year extension of stay based on employment.

Are you planning on continuing your job?

- Great, many many thanks. And finally, do you know which office / desk I would need in Bangkok for the Covid extension?

- No, short answer is I'm not likely to continue the job. There are some significant problems.

in that case, if you’re still on your visa, I’d just ghost them and when you get close to the end of the stamp, get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

- that's really useful to know, thank you. The place I'm staying filed a TM30 and gave me a copy - must I apply at that local immigration office or can I move and take them a new TM30?

you can move to where ever you want, but the landlord must give you a TM30 and you must use that immigration office
