What are my options for extending my stay in Thailand after my Non-Immigrant B visa expires?

Hi, I’m on a non-immigrant B visa right now that will expire on June 30 (I’m not renewing my work contract) I’d like to stay in Thailand for a little bit longer (1-2 months). My questions are:

1. Am I eligible for the covid extension?

2. If I am, what documents do I need apart from a letter from my work?

3. If I decide to stay longer than 2 months are there any options for me after that?

Thanks! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a non-immigrant B visa expiring soon and seeks to extend their stay in Thailand for 1-2 months. They inquire about eligibility for a COVID-19 extension, required documents besides a work letter, and options for staying longer than 2 months. Comments provide detailed guidance on the COVID-19 extension application process, necessary documents, and suggest checking with local immigration offices about procedures for canceling work permits and extensions.

Check with your immigration office what order you need to cancel both your extension and work permit. Usually, you need your work permit cancellation receipt to cancel your extension based on employment, but sometimes people were told vice versa. Better to check with both your local offices (Immigration and MOL) in advance.

If you look in your passport, I'm almost 100% sure you have a stamp that says "extension of stay". I'm going to assume you have an extension of stay, and not a visa :)

>1. Am I eligible for the covid extension?

What you need you do is to cancel your work permit, and your existing extension of stay, and apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. You can apply until July 28.

>2. If I am, what documents do I need apart from a letter from my work?

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and ant to use their special forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

There's so many options, but it depends on how much money you have, your personal situation (i.e. are you married? Are you raising half-Thai children? Are you over 50?), and what you are planning on doing here :(
