What are my options for extending my non-B visa in Thailand if I can't renew it?

Hello, I wonder if you could throw some light on my situation.

I am currently on a non-B (extension of non-B more precisely) that will expire on the 3rd of Feb. My work permit is valid until October. However, I won’t be able to renew my non-B.

What are my options? Can I apply for a 60 days COVID extension? Is there any alternative? Thank you for your help. 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently holding a non-B visa that is set to expire soon and cannot renew it. They are inquiring about potential options, specifically about applying for a 60-day COVID extension and alternatives available to them. Comments suggest that the only viable option is to obtain a letter from their employer to cancel the work permit, visit the immigration office, and apply for the COVID extension before January 29th.

has more than enough information to figure out their next steps

Good Luck to the O/P, thanx for all the helpful comments

We are done. :)

At this time <- meaning right now, your only option would be to get a letter from your employer stating you stop work BEFORE the 29th of Jan, go cancel your work permit.

Go to the immigration office where you got your extension, cancel it and apply for a 60 day covid extension.

That's your only option right now. AND for that option to work you need to do it before the rule allowing 60 day covid extensions runs out <- which is on Jan 29th.

thanks for that. Couple of extra questions if you don’t mind:

1/ isn’t my non-B automatically cancelled if my WP gets cancelled?

2/ what documents other than letter of employment are necessary to cancel WP? Can I do this in person or do I need accounting to get involved?

3/ is a letter from embassy required to apply for 60 days Covid extension?

Thanks again so much 🙏😅

no idea about canceling a work permit, this is the thai VISA group sorry :O :/ a call to the ministry of labour that issued your work permit would be the way to find out

IF your embassy issues the letter you take it, if they don't you don't

Marie Bigard nope there is no 'automatic cancelling' when you cancel the work permit you need to GO cancel your extension and it will be dated from the date your work permit was cancelled.

I had similar situation, you need accountant or whoever is responsible for WP from your employment to cancel your work permit at employment office then go to immigration by yourself to cancel non b extension then apply COVID extension

the person who has the responsibility for your WP is YOU, not anyone from your employer. You can cancel by yourself as long as you have all documents required. (I'm not going into detail here, it is visa group)

@Ellie ******
just share from my personal experience that I couldn’t cancel my WP myself as I asked the employment office in Phuket, I need my employers help.
