Can I file a TM30 online after being in Thailand for a month?

Hi Guys. My wife (homeowner where we live) is trying to fill in the TM30 today for me online, but I’ve already been in the country for a month. Is that possible?

I went to my local immigration for the list of requirements for my first marriage visa extension next week. They confirmed i need a TM30 and said to try online or I’ll have to come in and do it there and bring a neighbour as a witness, to prove where I reside.

But, you can’t back date my arrival date online (and the immigration officer didn’t mention this.) So I’d have to say online that I arrived today, which doesn’t tie up with my arrival stamp, of course.

I don’t want to do anything incorrectly, so I’ve paused this for now. Anyone have any experience with this?

Many thanks 🙏🏽

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 can be filed online even if the individual has been in Thailand for a month. While it is ideally required to be filed within 24 hours of arrival, later submissions effectively replace any prior records. It's advisable to input the current date when filing, despite any discrepancies with the actual arrival date. While some users have successfully completed their TM30 for visa extensions after delays, there might be minor fines involved as a learning experience.

I completed the TM30 when I applied for my 30 day extension. The Immigration were OK but issued a 800 baht fine, lesson learnt !

Yes it's possible using today's date

It's no problem. Yes legally it's required within 24 hours of arrival, but any TM30 filed basically clears out the past and replaces anything previous that happened. Just file a new one and use that, it's no problem at all.

my wife and I just went to immigration and they put a slip in my passport confirming my residential address and then came and checked just before my extension was due

That's either the paper version of the TM30 or possibly your 90 day report slip (TM47)

thanks Brandon. When you say clears out the past/replace anything previous, what is that? I’ve never filed on before, ever. Or do you mean the time I’ve stayed in hotels and they may have done one for me as a temporary guest? Many thanks.

The TM30 is just a database, it doesn't require approval and no one reviews it. You can only ever have 1 TM30. So anytime a TM30 is filed, it's the ONLY TM30. The past does not exist.

brilliant! Thanks Brandon. Last question. We filed it today. Should we expect a email response/confirmation soon? Or you get nothing back? Appreciate the help 🙏🏽

you won't get anything back. You have 7 days from the day that you submit a TM30 to go back into the system and search for the submission you made. Once you find it you can click on the export button to generate a pdf. That is your proof of TM30. If 7 days passes you can no longer search for it and get proof so if you forgot or didn't save it, you would need to submit a new one and then search for it to print it.

As you can see there are many reasons people would be submitting TM30s all the time, even if they just need proof but can no longer access it.

Yes. I did it about 2 months late once because we didn’t have the blue book to register our apartment online. I did it when that was straightened out, & no questions when I did my next 90 day report as staying at that address. The date signed in didn’t seem to be a problem
