Can I extend my DTV at immigration in Samut Prakan although my home is in Bangkok?

If no, could I just get a TM30 from a hotel in Samut Prakan and then be ok?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users are discussing whether one can extend their DTV at the immigration office in Samut Prakan while living in Bangkok. The general consensus is that, while it's theoretically possible to extend at any immigration office, a rental lease may be required, which could complicate the process if the extension is sought outside of the registered address. Additionally, registering a TM30 from a hotel might work for short-term tourist visa extensions but may not be sufficient for DTV.

Requirements for samut prakan from another post can be found doing a search.

You do need a rental agreement. So if you are in Bangkok you need to extend there, or you go book a flight and leave for a few days.

I suggest Malaysia. The air is better there

The internet says it can be any immigration office, does not need to be the one where you are living

I have stood next to a French couple chased away from the desk asking for extension in Jomtien. No TM30 no extension. They were staying in friends condo and it had not been done. They asked staff at immigration how to do it. They said ask condo. I had to explain to them what it even was. They were going into overstay as they left it to last day. The poster yesterday who extended in Samut Prakan had to show rental contact. Never mind the Internet says. Local immigration offices are run like personal fiefdoms.

I assumed they already have a TM30 for their home in Bangkok. Maybe that assumption is incorrect. But if they do have TM30 for Bangkok then they can go to any immigration office in Thailand. They don’t have to go back to Bangkok to accomplish what they need to do.

You really think a DTV Visa holders can just rock up at any immigration office they choose and ask for extension there with just a TM30 - dream on. Read the posts in this group about requirements in Krabi and Samut Prakan over the last few days and get back to us on that.

the TM30 is required for any extension or 90 day report, so yes no TM30 you will be turned away from ANY office. That is not what they asked. You do not have to file at the immigration office in the same city you are living. For example, my TM30 shows I’m living in Pattaya but I can go to any immigration office in Thailand. Some people come from Bangkok to file their extension or 90-day report in Pattaya because the immigration office here isn’t as busy, it’s faster.

He asked about DTV extension in Samut Prakan. He needs more than just TM30 as proof of residence there. Are you deliberately ignoring that bit or does your Internet search tell you differently?

PS: what visa are you actually on?

They must have a local TM30 to file 90 day in Pattaya then.. Seems a bit of a hassle when they coukd pay an agent to do it in Bangkok with no travel or overnight. Not possible without. As for extensions yes you can do visa exempt and tourist visa any office if TM30 registered there. Try and do "O" or "B" yearly extension where you are not living. Tell us how that goes.

Be careful with Internet or AI generated information. Thailand has different rules at different immigration offices. Go check is usually the only way if no one has done it before.

Depends if the immigration office requires you to produce your rental lease. Hotel TM30 invariably works for short term tourist visa extensions, but might not for DTV. Only the immigration office can answer this question

Having your TM30 registered in the immigration office you are applying to is probably a good idea. The guy who posted yesterday though had to show his rental contract though. That might be an issue if you do not have one.
