This may be a silly question, but I'm just not sure. Can one apply for their 30 day extension (45+30) at an immigration office in a province that's not where they're 'registered' or whatever. So if I live in Chiang Mai long term and so have not needed to update that TM form for a long time, but I happen to be in BKK when the time comes to extend another 30 days, the people in BKK aren't gonna tell me I have to travel back to CM to get the extension are they? OK hopefully that's clear enough, thanks 😄

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a 30-day extension at an immigration office in any province in Thailand, including Bangkok, even if you're registered in Chiang Mai. However, it's generally required to provide an address in the province where you are applying. In Bangkok, a TM30 receipt might not be enforced for this type of extension, but confirming local requirements with the immigration office is advisable.

If you entered Visa exempt and was stamped in for 45 days... The 30 day extension of stay in Bangkok is done at the ITSquare Laksi immigration office .. NOT at the CW Thai immigration office in Bangkok.

Here's the common found requirements for the 30 days extension of stay..

ASK your Thai immigration office for their list of requirements.

For a tourism extension, you can apply for it in any province. But you need to provide the address in that province. Most offices require you to have a TM30 receipt with the address in that province, otherwise, you will be told to go to the province you have your TM30.

Specifically in Bangkok, they usually don't require a TM30 receipt for a tourism extension, you just need to fill in the address in Bangkok.

OK that's what I was hoping to know, so should be able to just fill in the address? I am staying with a friend and so there's no report or receipt. Thanks for the info!

you may need a tm30 receipt at some immigration offices so your friend needs to lodge. I hope I got that right
