I have been living on Koph Phangan since 1,5 year and now I am going to visit Chiang Mai for 1 month. I still have my house on Koh Phangan and my TM30 is written by my landlord here.

Is it possible to do a Visa extension (covid extension) at the immigration office in Chiang Mai with my Koh Phangan address or do I need to have a rental contract in Chiang Mai to do that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the possibility of extending their visa at the Chiang Mai immigration office while using their Koh Phangan address. Comments indicate that a new TM30 registration from the Chiang Mai host is necessary for the extension. Others suggest that handling visa matters while still in Koh Phangan might be simpler. It is also advised that upon moving, new hosts must register the guest within 24 hours. Chiang Mai immigration might require additional paperwork for the extension, and visitors should be aware of the possibility of receiving temporary 'under consideration' stamps.

Check into whatever hotel-guesthouse. Demand they register you within 24hrs.(they have to by law). During your time staying at that address apply for your extension.

Note that Chiang Mai is known for giving 15 days "under consideration" stamps, so you have to go back to get the rest (and still be registered in Chiang Mai district, not Pai for example, which is different district).

They also asking more paperwork than KP in the form of maybe onward flights, Embassy letters, etc . All this has been reported over the last 2 weeks to be the case for some.

PM me if you have more q'stions 💚

Your new hosts need to fill a TM30 within 24 hrs each time you move to a new place.

@Fréd****
New province, you don't need a new tm30 if you're staying in a different house in the same province.

Tell that to the landlords when they get caught for accommodating a foreigner without declaration.

Yes, try to get your timings right so you can do it in Phangan - much easier there.

You'll need a new tm30 from wherever you're staying in Chiang mai to do an extension in CM.
