2 Quick questions:

1.Do tourist visa extensions need a TM30 to be done?

2.Since Chaengwattana is now asking for TM30 for extensions of stay, is it possible to go to another province to get the extension done there? (Not asking if it makes sense, just if it is possible)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion covers two main questions regarding tourist visa extensions in Thailand: whether a TM30 form is necessary for extending a tourist visa and the possibility of applying for the extension at an immigration office in a different province. Participants clarified that while a TM30 may not be mandatory for tourist visa extensions, it could be required by specific immigration offices. Additionally, it is generally possible to apply for a visa extension at any immigration office, provided that the applicant has stayed at a registered hotel that files a TM30.

Filling a TM 30 has nothing to do with the type op your visa. You can read all information here

If you are LIVING in Bangkok, a TM30 should have been filed per Thai Immigration Law.

James Miller It is about time Thai Immigration issued a common standard throughout all their offices, rather than act like bank managers owning their fiefdom.

Richard Clark agreed but has been law many years. And one with a TOURIST Visa should not have a problem if the owner/hotel owner of where the TOURIST is staying if they file the required TM30. I believe the TOURIST can obtain the Extension at ANY Thai Immigration office where they are staying. Problem solved.

If you need the receipt of TM30 is totally depending on the immigration office where you are applying.

You need to go to immigration office where you are staying for extension of tourist visa or visa exempt entry. So if you want to pick the immigration office, you pick the place and stay even just a night before applying.

Exactly, and that is why I specified "Hotel that registers you", as I do know that many small ones don't bother.

yes, a tourist on a visa exempt stamp that’s staying at hotel that registers them would be covered, although they might be asked for some sort of proof of which hotel they are staying at. It could get Interesting for those ‘tourists’ that are staying in privately owned residences wishing to extend their visa exempt stay.

There are no 30 day tourist visa stamps. You mean a visa exemption. It would depend if you are staying in a hotel that registers you online or not.

Ben Chesters well I thought that now you need the TM30 for extensions of any visa? Does this rule not apply for tourist visa 30 day stamps?

As far as I know, you have to do the extension at the office where you live.

Roman Philippi your profile says you are LIVING in Bangkok....but IF you are travelling around in Thailand...check into a hotel that does ask for your passport to log you in as a guest (TM30) and in day(s) following.... stop in their local immigration office and ask to extend your Tourist Visa. Good luck
