Hello, I have the annual nonimmigrant โ€œOโ€ visa expiring on August 12, 2024. Can it be extended with the 90 day visa? I am married to a Thai woman in Thailand. Otherwise I have to have 400,000 baht in the account again to pay in the annual visa?๐Ÿค”

TLDR : Answer Summary
The annual nonimmigrant 'O' visa for expats married to Thais cannot be extended with a 90-day visa. To extend the annual visa, you must have 400,000 baht in your account for at least two months prior to applying. Alternatively, a 60-day family visit extension is available without financial requirements, but it is not a direct extension of the annual visa.

Get the 60 days visit Thai family extension. It has no financial requirements. Just the regular 1900 thb fee.

Thank you very much for this answer

Unfortunately there is no 90 day extension available for being married to a Thai National, but you can get a yearly extension if the 400,000 baht is in your account 2 months before you apply for the extension.

Maybe 60 day extension to visit Thai family?

yes I got extension for family for 60 day last year

Is that possible with a 2 month extension?

@Thomas **********
, what do you mean by '"with" a 2 month extension'? That IS only 2-month (60-day) extension and you can apply for it ONCE for a visa entry.
Tod *********
nope there is no 90 day extension for married to a thai.

You get the year extension by banking the 400K baht for 2 months before you apply for the next extension

And is it enough to pay one month in advance?
Tod *********
@Thomas **********
Do you mean apply a month early? Yes you can apply at most offices when you have 30 days or less left on your current extension AND you meet the 2 month seasoning requirements for the 400K baht and have the other documentation

No need to wait until your stamp is running out as they add the year on to the expiration of the stamp you have

Do I still have to provide proof of the 400,000 baht if I extend the 2 month visa?

@Thomas **********
no proof of funds for the 60 day visit thai family extension

have money in the account but it's not enough because 3 customers couldn't pay me my money! That's why I have to postpone it and get a 2-month visa first. Then again the annual visa

@Thomas **********
why it's not there is neither here nor there for any of us on the group OR the people at immigrations ๐Ÿ˜ฎ We're just telling you the rules, you will have to have the 400K baht in the account for 2 months (date to date) when you apply for the year extension.

Also remember that 60 day extension isn't for marriage to a thai, you have to tell them it's for VISITING THAI FAMILY. If you say 60 day marriage extension they'll tell you there isn't one

This is the rule about 60 day extension in the immigration order for extensions
Tod *********
you MIGHT be able to go get a 60 day visit thai family extension (you're allowed to do that once) and that could buy you time to get your funds seasoned.

@Tod ********
I think I'll do that. 3 customers haven't paid me any money! That's why I'm missing that and I have to extend it for 2 months

That would be good

no, I posted you need to have the 400k baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your extension SO you'd need to bank the 400K baht in an account within the next 3 days and let it sit so that it'd be in there for the 2 months when your current stamp runs out ๐Ÿ˜•

The seasoning is 2 months date to date, so get it in June 12 you could apply for the extension Aug 12,
