TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your marriage-based Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand to potentially gain up to 17 months total. By doing a border run to Savannakhet before your current visa expires, you can receive an additional 90 days, effectively totaling 15 months. Additionally, if you visit an immigration office before the 15 months end, you can apply for a 60-day extension based on your marriage, for a fee of 1,900 THB, which allows you to stay for nearly 17 months. Alternatively, you can also consider applying for a one-year extension directly at your local immigration office without needing a border run.

Can't you go to your local immigration office and get a 1 year extension based on being married to a Thai national? Doesn't require border bounce.

if he doesn't meet the financial requirements he can't 😕

He might as well get the 17 months you can wring out of a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage BEFORE you get an extension even if you can meet the requirements 😛

The visa is valid for 1 year, IF you do a border run as Lloyd described you get 15 months out of this visa. IF you visit Immigration office before the 15 months ends, you can apply for an Extension of Stay based on visiting wife, cost 1.900 Thb, no financial requirements but copies ID's and marriage papers, to get another 60 days.

Which makes a total of nearly 17 months out of this 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage with a Thai National.

If you do a border bounce on the last day of your VISAS validity/use before date, then you will be stamped in for another 90 days, making a possible total of the 15 months that you have heard about.
