TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen who entered Thailand on a Visa Exempt basis can extend their stay for an additional 30 days, provided it is within the allowed limits. However, extensions may not be granted based on claims of emergency due to COVID-19, as long as flights are operational.

. . . Cambodia is closed for US citizens, not for UK citizens

Thanks. I knew it was one of the countries that started with a "U"

if you are still on the recent 30 days of a visa exempt entry, you can extend it once for 30 more days for 1900 THB on Immigration

A person from the UK can get two visa exempts by land in a calendar year, each visa exempt good for 30 days, extendable by another 30 day, giving a total of 120 days. You already used up one of your visa exempts.

Yes, you can get an extension of stay based on being a tourist as normal. It will add an additional 30 days to your existing stamp.

However, you will not get an extension of stay based on the COVID-19 virus though.

as long as flights are leaving Bangkok to the UK, there is no "emergency situation" and your embassy won't issue the letter that certifeis that you have been stuck in an "emergency". That means if there is no cause, there can't be any leniency. You can still go for a second border run for a visa exempt entry
