TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus in the community indicates that switching passports at land borders in Thailand is generally not permissible and can lead to complications. If you choose to re-enter Thailand by air with a different passport, it may be possible, but you may face scrutiny and questioning from immigration officials. It's important to use the same passport for both entry and exit, as biometric data may reveal your travel history, potentially undermining any attempts to evade immigration tracking.

Think you have your answer.. But if you are trying to outsmart the IO or ‘system’ by using 2 Passports.. you will fail.

Eg:- trying to hide the amount of times you have entered Thai by using 2 Passports.

Unless you have a different set of fingerprints for the 2nd Passport 🙆🏼‍♂️

Photo and Fingerprints will tell them what you have done.
Frankie *******
Make sure to use the right passport for entry n exit point the same passport.
Steve *******
You can, but your biometrics are registered in the immigration system, so you can't abuse this to enter on visa exemption with a different passport if you've been denied entry on your first passport.

Air only i made that mistake

yes by air is fine, i used to via KL and back same day, this was before they got smarter systems

Switching passports will not make any difference if your trying to avoid them knowing how often you come as your fingerprints will advise them.

Back in 2008, I switched via land border (Laos/Thailand). It was a big issue with immigration. They took me away from the tourist bus and had me sit in a cell for 30 minutes. The big boss finally allowed me to switch, wrote something in my passport and I was on my way. Was kind of scared.

That’s 17 some years ago. Perhaps rules have changed a bit from then.

- Wasn’t saying otherwise. But even then, it was

. They put me in a jail cell. Wasn’t saying that my situation is current practice/policy, but just reminiscing on something that happened years ago, that was marginally related to this topic.

@John ******
maybe it wasnt worth you reminiscing so far back that wasted people’s time reading, and most likely bored them 🤣🙆🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

if you are so worried about time and boring people, it is ironic that you would take the time to respond. Best of luck

@John ******
you also have become boring.. see ya.

Go see if you can start another conversation with someone else 🥱🥱🥱

fo idiot.. you mom also just said “shut up f’witt”.. now leave us 2 alone and be a good boy now.

You can do it by air but be prepared for raised eyebrows and questions as the IO will see you used a different passport previously
Stuart *********
You can’t switch passports on a land exit/entry. You can only do that via air.

Leave Thailand on the passport you entered on. Mid air switch to enter Laos on your other passport.

Leave Laos on that passport and enter Thailand with it.
