So after there was a lil misunderstanding in a other forum and now the thread is closed so i ask here again. Can I show up at a thai Landboarder (in my case mukdahan to laos) with old and new passport (new one is 5 days old when I show up at border and I have the letter from the embassy) and they stamp me out,let me leave the country?

Some ppl say better to transfer my last stamps and other say just show up at the border with 2 passports.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the confusion around using an old and new passport for exiting Thailand. The original poster is unsure if they can show up at the Mukdahan border with both passports, since their new passport is only 5 days old and they have a letter from the embassy. Community responses vary, with some suggesting it is permissible, while one warns that the old passport is void and stresses the importance of transferring the entry stamp to the new passport.

You have to be stamped out in the same passport you entered on if you don't transfer the stamp, and there is another detail you are forgetting. When you applied for, and received, your new passport, your old passport was notched, and made invalid, so you can not use it to leave the country, and you can't leave on the new passport as it has no entry stamp in it, and your old passport is no longer valid, so you must get your entry visa transferred into your new passport. You also can not enter any other country if you don't have an exit stamp from another country. Departure immigration can not accept an invalid passport that has been voided, no matter what letter you have from your embassy. They do not offer the service of transfering your stamp.

now I'm confused. I left Thailand two weeks ago and have no exit stamp or any other in my passport indicating I have left. Just my Visa extension and re entry permit. I got into the UK fine.

Check again you must have an exit stamp. If you don't you may have a problem when returning.

Immigration can and will transfer your stamps at the border as many have testified.

I'm not sure what Kool Breez is referring to, but I have left Thailand by land before in 2018 with an old + new passport. On the Thai side, upon leaving, they transferred my last two pages from old to new passport. It's a straightforward process that many have done since. You can do it at immigration or upon leaving at the airport or border.

Yea, that's what I heard and think. But why some ppl departed from Thailand without transfering the arrival stamp and visas/extensions into new passport and why moderators say just show up at immigration in swampy without transfer? That's the thing I am confused. Don't get me wrong, I will go the safe way but I am still confused.

You received good answers on your other post.

If you show up at the border and there are issues, they're not going to take a screenshot of what a stranger said on Facebook to make it all okay.

If you really want to safe, you would go to the office you got your last extension at and have everything switched over.

At this point you're just fishing for the answer you want.

Look, still no first hand experience. And it's hard to get one when thread is closed. Right now I have both answers from MODERATORS in different threads and private Dm's. That's not fishing, that's digging deeper looking for first hand experiences at this border. At swampi it's no problem to show up with 2 passports. Many ppl confirmed that from experience.

@Marc ******
the land borders just reopened and most people get their stamps transferred at their immigration office. I highly doubt you'll find a first-hand experience since Covid.

But you should post about your experience once you do it, if you do, so others have it.

Yep, the possibility is small but thats the great internet where million ppl meet to share. And yea, I will share my experience.๐Ÿ˜

Yep, you can show up with both passports. That's a very relaxed border crossing.
