I was granted the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) under my old passport (Passport 1).
I now have a new passport (Passport 2), because Passport 1 has less than 6 months left.
When I arrive in Thailand, I will bring:
ā Passport 2 (new and valid)
ā Passport 1 (used for the DTV application)
ā The DTV approval email linked to Passport 1
Will the immigration officer understand this and stamp the DTV into Passport 2 without any problem?
Or should I do something in advance to avoid any issue?
Thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about presenting a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) issued in an old passport upon arrival in Thailand with a new passport. They plan to carry both passports along with the DTV approval email. Community members confirm that immigration officers typically understand the situation and recommend bringing both passports and ensuring the visa stamp is correctly issued for the appropriate duration.
I just don't understand why so many people do this in the wrong order. First get new passport, then apply for visa. It will save you the hassle of carrying 2 pasports for most of the 5 years. And also depending on embassy there is a risk they give the visa the same end date as the passport.

Great question! I've been wondering this myself. Hoping someone who has done this can answer

Hello, I would appreciate it if you could provide me with updated information about the process once you have successfully completed it, as I will be undergoing the same procedure next month.š
That's exactly how it works, bring both passports and your printed DTV, hand it to the officer, make sure the permission to stay stamp is correct for 180 days.
