Can I convert my son's tourist visa to a Non-Immigrant O visa, and where should I apply?

Hi, I want to do an in-country visa conversion from a tourist visa (entry on exemption of visa actually) to a non-immigrant 0 for my 5 month old son. He would be a dependent on my non-immigrant B visa. Yes, we have more than 15 days left on the visa. Two questions:

1. Is this only possible in Chaengwattana? I am under BOI and usually go to Chamchuri square for my visa/WP.

2. What documents are required? In a group search I only found the requirements for retirees. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on converting their infant son's tourist visa to a Non-Immigrant O visa, dependent on the user's Non-Immigrant B visa. They inquire if this process is possible outside of Chaengwattana and what documents are necessary for the conversion. Responses suggest that the application might also be feasible at Chamchuri Square and emphasize checking requirements with the employer.

you wouldn't spend the day there, that section that does in country Non-Immigrant Visas (Section C-1) is not that busy and the people they do get they crank thru pretty fast.

I think you (not your employer) really needs to start with an in person visit to the One Stop Service Center at Cham Churi Square. They are well versed in what can and can't be done and they are YOUR contact seeing as you hold a BOI/IEAT company extension.

Your Employer knows that you need to visit once in a while the Immigration office, it is part of hiring a foreigner.

Never thought of going myself. Thanks for the advice.

You have your visa using the BOI office, your dependent can use the same office. But laws, rules and regulations can change, you never know, so make sure living in Thailand using a Swiss passport is not a problem for the Swiss Authorities.

Thank you Robert, good point. Yes we are registered with the Swiss authorities here (he was born here actually and could only get his passport through our embassy here).

Basically he MAY be able to apply Chumchuri square. You need to talk with your employer and have them check with Chumchuri. Anyway he needs more documents from your employer to apply non-o as a dependent to Non-B holder..

Thanks Ellie, yes my employer is helping but they say we probably have to go to CW. I am just dreading spending the day there with a 5 month old :(

1. What's your son's nationality?

2. They may tell your son to go on overstay. There is no punishment for overstay or an overstay fine for people who are less than 15 years old.

The best strategy I think is to let your son go into overstay, and then convert him to an ED visa when he starts school.

Thanks

. He is Swiss. I am not so fond of the overstay option, because they might change the law - you never know here really...
