Hey again knowledgeable ones. My wife is getting a non O here in Chiang Mai, and I'll be her dependent. We'd like not to both leave the country at the same time because of our kids.

1) Could I convert my tourist visa to non O- dependent visa at Chiang Mai immigration?

or

2) Could I apply for the non O dependent in Vientiane if I have all the documents (proof of marriage, letter from employer, etc...)?

@Florian *******
, you can apply for a Non-Immigrant Type visa from a 30 day visa exempt, a 60 day tourist visa or the 30 day extension on either of them.

I'd go to the Chiang Mai immigration ofice and see if you even can do an in country conversion to a 90 day Non-O for that reason. I don't see why you couldn't IF you met the requirements but definitely check with them

In Chiang Mai you need to have 21 days left on your current entry stamp to do an in country Non-O conversion. you go to the promenada immigration office up there and make an appointment for when you can apply for the 90 day Non-O. They will give you a hand out stating what documentation is required. On that appointment time you show up and turn in your application. They'll tell you when to come back for the results because it will go under consideration. Then you go back and get the 90 day Non-O visa stamped into your passport
